As a petroleum geologist who has discovered more oil than Jed Clampett (of the Beverley Hillbillies), Richard Barnett has retired to the Hill Country of Central Texas. He has renounced chores like mowing the lawn in order to explore the hills and the treasures buried in untold stories of the Bible. He has authored six completed works of fiction and non-fiction, and has numerous publication credits for articles, professional papers, short stories, and poems.

Just as the hills hold a wealth of wonders, so do the Scriptures, which are set in a landscape that resembles Central Texas in many ways. Exploring and interpreting geology and natural history have enabled Richard to uncover unnoticed riches in the Bible in the form of untold stories and evocative references to its geology and natural history.

Richard shares his discoveries in his books and other writings. After reading the samples in this site, you will want to dig a little deeper by treating yourself to his books.

Richard Barnett holds a Master’s Degree in Geology from the University of Houston.

God gave Richard a real gem of a wife who shares his dreams and keeps him working and motivated. Alleen and Richard Barnett live in Wimberley, Texas, where they attend Wimberley Presbyterian Church. They have two grown daughters and two grandsons.

But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, 'where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them.'
~ Psalm 53:5
