Types of Children's Books

Authors love to write for kids. Kids love to read. From the youngest of age, parents wrap their kids in their arms, sit them on their laps, and read to them. As kids get older, they learn to read to their parents. The bedtime story book that the adult used to read to them is now being read to the adult. Starting with picture books and all the way to novels, children's books are a big market for authors. eBook popularity is changing how we think, how we market these books. Bookstore Without Borders is delving into this with both eyes wide open.

Picture Books: These books are the very beginning of the child's world of literacy. Picture books tell the story using pictures. Great illustration is used to support minimal text.

Rhythmic Books: Dr. Seuss is a great example of books with rhyme and rhythm. Nursery rhymes and lullabies fall into this genre as well.

Fairytales: Once upon a time... what child doesn't love fairy tales! A dream world where imagination is magical, and happy endings preveil.

First Books: Remember seeing your great grandmothers first book? It was made out of material, fabric. Today first books can be made out of thick cardboard, or plastic, so the pages stand a better chance with young readers. These books come in all sizes and shapes, for different size fingers and hands. Books. They're important, and always will be. Some books are passed down through generations. They are here to stay. eBooks are new, and also here to stay. They won't replace books.  They're just another way read. No different than TV's. We still have them in our house, but now we can also watch TV on our phones, from anywhere we happen to be.

Concept Books: These books teach day to day things. Getting dressed, going to school, having a best friend, telling the truth. Authors write to teach things without the kids thinking they are being taught anything. Clever, and hard to write.

Most books for children require illustrations. Bookstores Without Borders provides you with book illustrator resources. Whether you need watercolour paintings for your book, sketches or photographs, we can help you find the artist that can finish your book off the way you want it to be done.
