Jennifer Dale Stables- B.F.A., B.Ed.
Alberta artist Jennifer Stables grew up in the small town of Bow Island.  Her passion for art began at a very young age, and she has developed her skills as an artist for nearly 20 years.  After high school, Jennifer attended the University of Calgary and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting in 2001.   She then moved to Montreal where she taught children’s art classes at the Visual Arts Centre and studied Art Therapy and Art Education at Concordia University.

Equal to her love of painting is Jennifer’s dedication to education, especially early childhood education.  Even as a teenager Jennifer took on leadership roles with children and youth organizations such as 4-H and Girl Guides.  It was no surprise that after teaching art to children in Montreal Jennifer caught the teaching bug and returned to Calgary, where she entered the Masters of Teaching program at the University of Calgary.  During this time Jennifer received several scholarships and published a peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Early Childhood Education.  She worked alongside her professor for a research project, “Drawing as a Language in Kindergarten”, and became involved with the Calgary Reggio Network Association.

In 2005, Jennifer received her Bachelor of Education specializing in Early Childhood and began teaching for the Calgary Board of Education.  Her first teaching assignment allowed her to combine her expertise in art with her teaching skills an AISI Learning Leader.  This role enabled her to work alongside teachers to help them infuse art into the curriculum.  She gained valuable experience working with students and curriculum from kindergarten to grade 8.  She led numerous workshops for teachers in art and Reggio-inspired teaching practice.
Jennifer moved on to other teaching positions, taking an art-leadership role within each school.  She has served as a Director for the Calgary Reggio Network Association since May of 2011.  She continues to serve her community in educational and art leadership through numerous professional development workshops and presentations on the subject of art and Reggio-inspired education.

Jennifer Stables lives in Calgary with her husband and their son.  Through her business, Jenny Dale Designs, Jennifer celebrates the joy and wonder of childhood through her art.  She offers a variety of unique illustrations and poetry to adorn the walls of children’s rooms, nurseries, or any special nook and cranny of your home.  Her exquisite portraits of babies and children capture the joy and love she recognizes in each child.  She also creates prairie art, landscape paintings, and still life artwork that conjure up memories of years gone by- grain elevators, rolling wheat fields, and precious toys from her childhood.  Jennifer accepts commissions for baby portraits, still-life paintings, landscapes, and custom nursery art and children’s art.  She’s also available to lead teacher professional development workshops for teachers, art residencies, and presentations.
